Anyone know whether a gift sub takes effect immediately, or if there's a waiting period?

The gift subscription acts just like a regular subscription. It will be active immediately.

It's nice when you can give a Gift Subscription and make someone's day. :)

OI this kills me...a while ago (um yeah, right around the time the Nancy Drew folks spilled into sleuthville) I kept getting PM's from kids who were savvy enough to figure out that someone could buy them a sub, and (I guess) allowance-challenged enough that they couldn't get their own.
Them: Hi crunchpatty u seem kewl i ttlly <3 u cn u $ my sub 3 mnth k? I'll b ur bff!!! <3 <3 <3
Me: um. no? I'm sure you are a very nice person, but you probably shouldn't be asking random internet guys for money, okay?

Crunch, you know I would never ignore you and your sage, wise, witty responses.
Yeah, I think it stinks people ask for gift subscriptions.
It's not cool like the Fonz.
