The faction skills are not recomended to newer detectives because there are other things that are much more valuable to learn first; no tbecause you are subbed or unsubbed.
Learn Research along with your Interview skills (charm or tough) and Detection skills (smart).
Don't waste your points on safe cracking it is only good if you are in an agency (have to be subbed) and pick pockets is not a very useful skill either.
