Woah. This guy wants to charge me $20,000 instead of the $800 or so before, what gives? Does this mean you should just clear stuff early on? This is painful.

The shady character still seems to be toooo expensive. I just have one false accusation, and I'm not really worried to clear it up, because I don't usually have false accusations. (this is actually the only one ever).
But even if I wanted to clear it, I never seem to have the money to do it. After a day of work I always check his price, and it is always a bit more than I have. And it's not like I spend money around. I'm not in an agency, so I don't pay rent, and I never buy equipement (apart from a magnifying glass and a watch a loooong time ago) because stuff I get from favors are far better than what you find in the shop.
Anyway, although I don't actually spend money, I never seem to have enough money for the shady man. His price keeps going up as my money goes up.
I'm not really worried to clear my record, but I think he should be much cheaper.

Is it possible to freeze the price at where it was when the second accusation was picked up?

Feh.
Maybe I should have him offer a payment plan.

I have a suggestion:
How about if you have a long series of successful cases (i.e. you solve all of them, w/o false accusations or quits) to get your record clean?

No, I like having it a money thing. It is important for a virtual economy to have money sinks, otherwise cash will eventually become useless. There are very few real money sinks in this game (Rent, Bribes and Record Clearing), so I want to keep them all. The cost, however is open to negotiation.

Hmm, yes you are right about the money sinks. I agree that you should keep them. I think many games have economy problems because of such issues.
It would even make sense to me to add more, like making a contribution to a faction to improve your standing. Btw, i agree with the opinion that was stated in some other thread, that you should give more importance to the mob, because now they aren't that special.

i like the idea of contributions to factions... right now its near impossible to be good with 2 factions, and i have money coming out of my ears. (donated some 40k to agency safe). also it would be really cool to see what the other head quarters are like

The other problem with a long string of successful cases is that if you are generally playing hard cases (for the sake of argument) you could just take beginner cases until your name was clear.

*reads through the old thread with interest*
Well if they only knew how bad it would really get....
*wishes there was another break in the formula somewhere along the way*
