On some cases I do at the end of the case it says that I earn 20 ex points but doesn't say I earn a skill point, but.... sometimes it does, it just doesn't say that every time I do a case. Why is that happening?!?!

My current level (see post above) gives me enough skill points to purchase all of the skills including faction skills.

You will want to get the faction skills in the middle of your career, things such as Underworld Connections come in very handy in the Incredibly Hard cases and above.

Ok thanks for the info everyone! :) Also me and my cousin are newbies so I have never done an intermediate case before. My cousin tried 1 but didn't get everything he needed to accuse someone so he had to quit to avoid a FA. Now I am also not sure if I could do one either, but I don't want to try it and possibly having to quit which would waste time and a daily mystery, when I could for sure do an easy case. Also I want to do intermediate cases to earn more money and skill points faster. Should I earn more skills first or go ahead and try it?

Well, Intermediate is the level of the lowest favours you can get so if you've been able to do those without having to quit, then I can't see why you shouldn't be able to get through a Intermediate case just fine :)

Yay - way to go!! :)

As for not having done favours, you've really been missing out on one of the best parts about the game, because favours are where you can get some nice gear for your detective AND earn contacts (these come in very handy).

So try asking one of the townspeople if someone might have a favour for you to do for them. Favours come after 4 succesfully solved cases (including the last solved favour so it's usually 1 favour + 3 regular cases) , but seeing as you've been doing cases without asking for favours, the pattern may be a bit out of whack for you so just keep asking after every case you do from now on until one of them says yes - after that you should be back of the favour pattern track again :)
