On some cases I do at the end of the case it says that I earn 20 ex points but doesn't say I earn a skill point, but.... sometimes it does, it just doesn't say that every time I do a case. Why is that happening?!?!

There is no hard and fast formula that we the players know of (at least none that I have ever heard anyone claim).

We do know that as your XP level goes up the Skill Points are earned at a slower rate. The curve does stop and stays steady at the higher levels, with that level seeming to be somewhere over the 150,000 XP mark.

At that top level it is one Skill Point for roughly every 10,000 XP points.

Ran I think you mean one skill point for every 40,000 points! Takes me (took me, anyway) 7-8 AI cases to get one skill point.

Wow those AI cases must be really hard! :O

Ara, there is some fuzzyness about the actual numbers.

I have 5560900 XP right now and 261 skill points, having just earned the last Skill Point within the last or second to last case.

I know that if I get all 10 AI cases turned in during a day I earn 1 Skill point. Perhaps there is a slight further plateau after the million XP mark? you were far past that with Arab.

I do think that it is one of the mysteries of Sleuth we will not have a hard and fast answer for.

Just so that new detectives know that they need to keep doing harder and harder cases to earn more skill points.

You know, after I'd gotten all the faction skills etc, I stopped paying attention, so maybe there is another plateau. But yeah, I guess the overall point is, skill points are way harder to come by the more experience you get.

(I should point out for those wondering who the heck I am that until very recently I was Arabesque, who suffered an untimely and sad demise due to stupidity on my part. That detective had nearly 3.5 million exp points.)

(Yes, I know.)

OUCH!!!!! Sorry Ara!!! :( Also does anyone know around what XP you'll have enough skill points to get all the skills? (except the faction skills)

My current level (see post above) gives me enough skill points to purchase all of the skills including faction skills.

You will want to get the faction skills in the middle of your career, things such as Underworld Connections come in very handy in the Incredibly Hard cases and above.

Ok thanks for the info everyone! :) Also me and my cousin are newbies so I have never done an intermediate case before. My cousin tried 1 but didn't get everything he needed to accuse someone so he had to quit to avoid a FA. Now I am also not sure if I could do one either, but I don't want to try it and possibly having to quit which would waste time and a daily mystery, when I could for sure do an easy case. Also I want to do intermediate cases to earn more money and skill points faster. Should I earn more skills first or go ahead and try it?
