Yay! I have really been anticipating the World Cup... and now it's finally here!
Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Tunisia, Asia, Iran, Japan, Korea Republic, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, Australia, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Serbia & Montenegro, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, USA...
I have no favorites... all of these teams are playing fairly well, and mostly all of the matches are fun to watch.
Wikipedia has an excellent article on the event with schedules and other nifty information:

So, what do you all think? Which team is the best bet at winning the cup? Which flag do you have flying in the wind on your car? Which flag have you painted or drawn on yourself or on paper millions of times?
What do you have to say about FIFA 2006?

Just when I was looking forward to the game Brazil-Spain, the French fraternity of seniority decided otherwise. What a bummer...
Even though Brazil-France seems like a waste of time, let's hope Kaka & Co do what they have to do and send that bunch of old stogies with fogies back home.
Aux armes, citoyens! (I will have to endure their silly anthem one more time)

And to the Germans, there will be another try-out in 4 years :) In the meanwhile....
Junge, komm' bald wieder, bald wieder nach Haus'!
Junge, fahr' nie wieder, nie wieder hinaus!
Ich mach' mir Sorgen, Sorgen um Dich.
Denk' auch an morgen, denk' auch an mich!

I just watched the game.
Italy, in two minutes, scores two goals. All I see are the unhappy and sullen German fans. Some are sobbing while others are in plain shock. Meanwhile, the screaming and jovial Italians are waving their little flags with such joy.
How sad it must be to have your country, the host your idols, lose and get knocked off a prestigious world championship.
Then there is Portugal and France. There is hope that Portugal will win, sending the French packing.
Sunday will be a real kicker with Italy. Viva Italia!
