Well for those of you who dont know me I am a Marine who was just recently deployed to Iraq. I was just going to let everyone know that I am doing fine. Its so hot over here though I cant stand it. I should be back in a few months. I will try to log on once a day or so to read my messages and this post. I wish I had the time to play all my cases but thats not very likely. Well I will chat with you all later.

Charlie the ignore button works great. I no longer put up PMs from those members of the community who want to pretend to be nice in public then act even more childish in private.

You will always have a place to come to here. Still look forward to you heading one of the various agencies for us.

To everyone petty enough to send Charlie PMs criticizing what he does.

Your viewpoints on the war are pretty damn easy to have outside of the war zone itself, a luxury Charlie doesn't have.

You can sit in your chair next to your damn computer nice and cozy thinking you know it all. Charlie doesn't have that luxury. The time he gets to spend in here is a time when he wants to come in and say hi to his friends that he's made here who care about his well being is probably very rare for him and how dare you ruin it with your petty self-serving, thinking you know it all behavior.

I don't know Charlie. I don't know anyone currently stationed in Iraq. And my viewpoints on President Bush's motives for sending our troops (Yes, I'm American) will also remain private.

But I will say this. You think you know something until its you whose life is in peril or jeopardy. Charlie, please don't leave the community because of a few selfish people who can't respect your privacy during one of the few moments that you are relaxing and getting to enjoy yourself while in a dangerous situation that most of the people PMing you probably don't even fully understand.

If you don't like war or you have specific politics, good for you.

If you are idiot enough to pester Charlie with it when he comes in here to let people who care about him know he's still alive and safe, then maybe it's YOU who needs to leave Sleuth permanently.

Think about what you are doing and who you are doing it to. And then..shut your piehole!!!

My opinion is that Charlie should make a list of the people who sent him nasty PM's and that Ben should evict them from the game.

Charlie being on here, at the rare times he gets to, is not an open invitation for anti-war sentimentalists to throw pot shots at him. If you do it, you are a mean-spirited person who needs to re-think your actions.

Charlie, keep logging in. Allow everyone who cares about you to know that you are safe. Good luck!

Charlie, please, please, please don't go away. You always will have a home with us in Closers or in Omega or any agency you choose. As Ran said, the ignore button works very well. There will always be small minded people in the world. I would wish it were otherwise.

I'm not going to be as kind as to say the people who did this are petty. this is beyond petty. This is poisonous, this is..... Oh, GODS!!! I need to shut up and walk away from this before I say anything more. I will post my thoughts when I can see clearly through my anger.

Charlie, come home. Safe. Please.

Bigge, Al Z, etc., I concur with many of your opinions. Neither do I know Charlie (Hi Charlie!), nor anyone in iraq nor do i have a opinion on iraq that i will share.

This is not a site for harassment or emotional abuse. While PM's are private, it does not mean that they an arena for bad behaviour, either. I hope that anyone with an opinion on iraq will find an appropriate forum in life for their expressions but i don't think Sleuth is the place where that should happen. especially when it jeopardises the emotional well being of not only the subject of the disagreement but wears emotionally on members of Sleuth who work hard to create a friendly and welcoming board and see that reputation sullied by insensitive and uncalled for actions.

Charlie was merely saying "hi" and letting his friends know his status while briefly explaining it to those who are unfamiliar with him. He did not voice any opinion of the situation nor ask for any. Charlie, I hope that this incident does not drive you away from Sleuth. Even though we are not acquainted, i would be disappointed to see you or anyone leave Sleuth because of the actions of people in our own community.

stay safe and stay cool!

To all of the people who've sent Charlie a nasty PM.... STOP!

You shouldn't be driving a player out just because you don't support the war. I admit that I don't agree with the war but it doesn't mean I don't want Charlie to come back safe and sound.

Please stay in Sleuth Charlie! Can't wait for you to get back!

To AL Z...that comment says it all! Thank you for that!

Whether I support the war or not is my own personal opinion, but I have friends and loved ones over there and I do not appreciate it when I here of someone getting bad comments about their being a soldier in Iraq. They cannot help that they were deployed to go to Iraq! If you think the war is bad just by the facts that you get from the news...then shame on you! I know tons of good things that are currently happening and that have been occurring over there. You cannot go by what the news tells you because they will never tell you the good things only the bad!

To the ppl that pm'ed Charlie...you are not over there! You do not see the faces of the ppl that chear them on as they fight for not only OUR freedom and privileges but for those of the many unfortunate men, women, and children who have no choice or say in the matter of their dailey lives. Some of my friends who are there now are currently working with the law inforcements, the doctors, and so on to better their education of their jobs. So that they are able to do there job to the fullest of their ability! So the next time that you want to bad mouth what is going on over there...think before you speak! Instead of insulting the many soldiers like Charlie, you need to be praying for them to come home safely to there family and friends! I know from personal experience that it is horrible having a loved one over there knowing that they cannot come home whenever they want to!

Charlie...I hope you continue to stay on here and sleuth! Do not let these small-minded individuals drive you away! Stay with us! STAY SAFE!

To all my friends out here in sleut land. I just wanted to say thanks alot for the kind words. Now after long thought and talking some to Ben I have decided to stay and be more active in the community. I havent been real active lately due to my deployment but that will be ending soon and I can go home and finally end my days of fighting once and for all. Now for those of you who dont know me you will for those of you who know me I am sorry and for those that dont like me take a number and wait in line. Ben I know I asked you to delete my persona here thank you for not doing it. I originally did decide to leave last week but I have since then changed my mind when I could not bear the thought of giving up the friends I have on here Della, Reese, Ran, and Breitkat plus the others out there you know who you are. So Charlie is announcing his return to duty. Thanks to you all I will be back soon and solving cases after a few days of rest.

I'm as anti-war as they come but even I know the difference between bitching at some random kid who's been sent over there and actually doing something politically effective. Don't yell at the soldiers, yell at their commanders!

Charlie, I'm glad you weren't hurt. However, there's a good chance that while you were there, you saw some other people hurt really really badly, am I right? Violence is a funny thing - it inspires violent reactions, which might have something to do with why some people sent you nasty pm's. For your own sake, I hope that you didn't lose anyone you really felt strongly about while you were there. But if you did, and it hurts, I would invite you to communicate that pain to the persons who were responsible for putting people in the line of fire.

Welcome home soon Charlie.

Crunch, very nice comment and good rational action. Thank you for expressing a thoughtful and intelligent way of expressing disagreement.

I don't know what anyone could say after that excellent and stirring statement by Al Z - but I have to add my two cents worth here:

Motor Vehicle Accidents are the leading cause of death for children under the age of 14. Ever time you put your child in a motor vehicle you are putting your child "in harms way." My point in this is that those of you pointing your fingers need to realize that there are four more pointing right back at YOU!!

Charlie - thank you for your willingness to serve your country and protect our right to freely post all the thoughts shared here. God bless you and come home safely!!!
