This question was asked back in 1994, but I can't seem to find the answer to it. Is there a way of killing off old detectives, and making a new one with the same name?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I almost forgot, can our detectives be removed by the admins if they go inactive or something? and if so how long before a detective is labelled inactive?
Again thanks in advance

You can kill off your detective by purposely making three false accusations, but there's no way of using the same name on a new detective. You can a new detective with a variant on the name, like PTSTracy 2.0 or something similar.
I don't know the answer to your second question.

Ben, only once, did take detectives that were inactive and had less than 30 exp and changed their names to make those names reavailable. It's not something that happens on a regualr basis.
In general, if you retire, you've lost your name and have to start over. Just one more reason not to guess and to double check your evidence before you accuse.

Though its not the answer I was hoping for, its still an answer, so thanks Arabesque and cfm for the responces. But theres something else I should have asked originally... with the responce from the admin he/she also stated that in the next update this issue would be considered. What I wanted to ask is when are the updates? Like does it mean that the website would have to go offline for awhile? and if so how long would it take, and when?

Updates are irregular, when Admin has some new present to share he typically has sent out an announcement (See the Sleuth History link in city hall for examples) to let all the players know what was happening.
While updating does involve a small amount of downtime quite often we are just pleasently surprised when we log in and see our new toys.
