In the interest of keeping it to a seperate disussion from the new city thread lets start a thread on the new factions people would like to see.

For clarification this is just a wish list for what people are suggesting for new additions, nothing in this thread is currently in the works.

But we can always dream, Sleuth Admin is like Santa if you really believe you might find a nice present left for you.

In the new cities thread several places have been proposed. If there are any new cities added the following is presumed to occur:

2 new cities = existing factions expand in the number of cities they are resident in.

4 new cites = 6 new factions, each presumed to be teaching a new skill

So what factions and what skills are you dreaming of?

Faction: Merry Maidens of Mirth
Skill: Fit ot Giggles
Explanation: Every time you get too serious about yourself or the game, you break in to fit of giggles thereby rendering your ability to Sleuth Null and Void until you can come back to the computer in the right frame of mind :)

Or give him that secret about aliens that only tier one scientology members get. :)

As a former tier one scientologist (got knocked back to rookie after drunken graffiti rampage depicting L. Ron Hubbard in a compromising position with Minnie Mouse and a donkey), I have decided to share the secret.

John Travolta's chin cleft? Actually a super secret canyon where the aliens stash the mothership.

Cairo is my absolute favourite, and the faction could be called Tomb Robbers or something like this. "The Hashishin" sounds cool, but then te city should be Jerusalem which would also be nice.

One faction skill that I have thought of would be from the Fortune Teller.

It would tell you what the next favor needed in a hunt will be.

Not the one you know of because you just did the favor, but the next down the road. You could go visit the Fortune Teller and pay a higher fee with this skill to get the "short list" of favors needed for the hunt.

It could help balance out some of the skills by adding to the pool of "useful for those in an agency" such as safe cracking is now. It also becomes a good way to drain some money away from the players, creating another need to build up the agencies safe.

As much as I would love to know what's coming after the next favor, I think that might give too much advantage to the larger/older agencies with plenty of money in their coffers. While I could afford to 'buy' the information, other agencies might not be able to. Another consideration would be the cost effectiveness. Paying for the info as well as paying to open the hunt, might negate any monetary gain from winning the hunt. It's a good thought, but I'm not sure it would really keep the challenge in the game/hunts. If I've misunderstood, please clarify for me. :)

Hmmm...I like the idea, but I can see Della's point about the monetary aspect.

But maybe a modified version would be an option...This is a very rough idea, but maybe something along the lines of if the fortune teller is one of the people who you do a favor for and the person who completes the favor has this new faction skill (maybe called premonition) then instead of one name they get two (or however many). Then it wouldn't cause an overly huge advantage to newer/smaller agencies, because the chance of someone having this skill and being the one to solve the favor for the fortune teller wouldn't be that great. I don't know...just a thought.

Don't get me wrong. :) I like the rough idea itself, but I think it needs much more thought so that it would not make things too easy or only easier for a few.
Your suggestion, Serena, would indeed make it interesting. Something where chance and luck would come in to play rather than it being a monetary issue.
