Is it worth it to pay the Shady Character to erase your record? I had no alibi+motive+evidence and it ended up being fake. So I am tempted

Absolutely. Three false accusations and your detective is retired. And the higher your experience points are, the higher Shady's prices are. Better to pay him now.

If you really had no alibi and PE, it sounds like a bug...
Liar/none + PE = guilty
Liar/none + WE = guilty
WE + WE = guilty

if you mean the suspect clammed, then ignore this, as the person could have had a perfectly good alibi.
And yes, pay shady. otherwise you have to start all over with a new det when your current one gets retired from a 3rd FA.
