What the subscription gets you

I know the subscription allows you to play the featured mysteries (which don't count against you if you accuse incorrectly which is very appealling), allows you to do a treasure hunt (as a member of an agency), and allows you to travel to another city, but what else does it get you?

What I'm looking for is how the mysteries you get for your subscription differ from non-subscription mysteries. Are there more locations in each city to visit? Is there another way of proving guilt?

And one last thing: Will the mysteries ever "run out" for those who have not subscribed?

Thank you for your patience.

IMHO, the featured mysteries are not the main reason to subscribe. They are fun, but certainly not why I subbed. I wanted more mysteries--3 wasn't enough, and wanted to join an agency, and travel. This is what it gets you. Each city has its own "feel" and culture; and no there is no special extra way of proving guilt, although when you travel you can visit different factions and learn their skills, which can be helpful. Being in an agency, IMHO, adds more depth to the game. Plus by subscribing, you are helping to support this wonderful game.

Not sure about your last questions. As a non-subscriber, you will always have three random mysteries, plus one favour for a townie (assuming you solved the last favour plus your three cases successfully).

Jstkdn has a thread called "Why Subscribe" in her mod picks. I will post the link here for you.

Having never played a FM yet, I can say that it does not affect why I subscribed.

The desire to be part of an agency and the chance at different skills affected my choice. Being part of the community feels better when you subscribe.

Heck Underworld Connections alone as a skill is almost worth the price of a subscription for several months.

FMs (Featured mysteries) are EXTREMELY different from a random mystery.

They are usually a little bit harder, have more story line (a LOT more), and are just, overall, more fun.

That's what FMs are.

When you're not subscribed you can't travel to other cities and thus can't gather certain faction skills such as pugilism, surveillance and underworld connections.

Pugilism gives a boost to your toughness and helps to solve cases by getting more cooperation from suspects & witnesses.

Surveillance is handy to get extra answers of an uncooperative suspect.

Underworld connections avoids to make a tour of town witnesses when a suspect went into hiding.

I think the big draw is in being a member of an agency...it's not just the treasure hunts and different skills and stuff. For me the big plus is the opportunity to switch gear and collaborate on cases. Agencies have equipment lockers with which their members can share items such that you can gear up with the smartest items to make sure you find all the detailed evidence at a crime scene, then switch to very tough or very charming stuff depending on your profile, to increase the chance of success in interviewing. And if that fails, you can file a case (with some exceptions) so that someone else can work on it for you.

Short version...mucho experience points! More skill buying ability! A world of rich functionality at your fingertips! Improved self-esteem!

And all at low low prices. Kicks the ass off that weird chopping tool you bought from an infomercial.

(yoda voice) Subscribe, you will. :P

Oh, and no...I don't see how the mysteries would ever run out, irrespective of subscription status.
