Hi
I'm a newbie that found Sleuth yesterday. I have quit one case, solved one case and made 1 false accusation. I'm currently stuck on a case and would like to buy the interragation skill. My profile says that I have 21 skill points total and 1 unspent skill point. Why can't I use some of the skill points from the total amount, even though I haven't bought any skills yet on this site?

Sincerely,
SJ Bristow

You start off with a certain number of skill points when you register a detective...If I remember it is 20. But in choosing the easy route of making the character (i.e. picking freelance reporter as your background), you automatically spent those skill points for the skills your detective started with. You get more skill points by correctly solving cases, and right now you have one to spend...You will get more as you solve more.

Also, as a smart/charming detective, you do not want to buy interrogation (a tough skill) right away...It would be better to start by getting more skills from the smart and charming sets.

P.S. There is a lot of information on these and other topics in the Welcome Newbies thread on this page :)
