this might be a dumb question, but what should i do once ive interviewed all the suspects, and no one is willing to talk? there are a number of people without alibies or have fake ones, but the townies wont talk to confirm evidence, and the other suspects wont talk rearding who they think is guilty. basically, whath should a newbie do when they are stuck and at a dead end?

Um.. you're getting a lot of .. well.. confusing.. if not bad advice. Yes, read the Welcome Newbie's thread, THAT 'S a good idea!
Getting Sweet Talking, Rule Bending, Interrogation and Intimidation is NOT what you want!

As a Charming detective (smarts is only for the crime scene) you need Charming interview skills- which you can read about in cfm's post.

IF you are at a dead end where asking suspects and townsfolk don't give you anything, you'll need to quit unless you want to chance getting a false accusation which is a very BAD idea!

Good luck.

Sorry if that was confusing, drester87. Blueberry Hill is right as in getting charming skills. You really should read the Welcome Newbies thread, but anyways, my advice on not quitting is probably the factor that I don't like quitting cases, and have not gotten that many falsies. But all the same, I am not as experinced as Blueberry Hill, so you'd be better of listening to his advice.:)

If your detective is new you should start by doing easy and beginner level. Your new character didnt get the exp you had with your old one. So you need to build it up before you can do intermidiate cases.

You will want interview skills according to your type (charm or tough). Those skills cost points, not money. The only way to get those points is to do cases. So if you go to high level you wont be able to solve it without skills and wont get skill points to buy those skills.

That is why everyone has to start with easy's, where the suspects and townies almost never clam.

If you are really stuck, its always better to quit then to get a false. Quiting hurts nothing. But falses can get you retired and can cost a lot to clear.
