Tough, Smart, or Charm?

When I buy items which characteristic is the most useful in sleuthing? Is charm as important as being smart? Or should I be tougher than I am charming? I don`t really know. Help me?

You should buy equipment that enhances the type of character you selected. Smart and Charming equipment will work best for your character. Don't buy the tough skills.

The most important thing is to play to your archetype's strength since that's where you get your skill discounts in terms of how many points you need to spend. I also recommend checking out the welcome newbies thread.
