I find I'm always wondering when I'll get that next skill point. It would be great if there was some way to see when you'd get it, like "20,000 experience points till your next skill point, blah blah..." What does everyone else think?

Ranier, what you can do, is record where your experience is after you gain a skill point to the next, It can help a little of keeping track when you're going to get another skill point :)

Yes, it would be possible to add a "XXX Experience points to your next skill point" indicator.

For the record, the rate of earning skillpoints is constant, and the same for all detectives (that is, it is always based on how much experience you have).

The reason it appears different is because this formula was dramatically changed when I introduced the "Almost Impossible" cases (making it easier to quickly earn experience).

Detectives created before that time (a little over a year ago), were able to reach 300 skill points by about 1.5 million experience. These days, it takes more than 5million to reach that point. Detectives who earned some experience before that time and some after will see something in between.

I realise that's a big change, and wasn't completely fair for new detectives, but I felt it was necessary to keep the game interesting longer.

Well it certainly stays interesting Ben. And once again thanks for all the hard work. I think I can speak for all of us sleuthers when I say we all really appreciate it.

I agree Charlie! I just started a few weeks ago, and it definitely doesn't matter to me that it will take longer. It just means I have something more to work towards! I am so appreciative of all the work done to keep this game going for us. As well, I am always so impressed with how friendly and supportive everyone is! I don't want to start gushing, but SLEUTH ROCKS!

Yay, Ben! Thank you for answering our big mystery for us!! We love you!

*sigh, realizing she has a ways to go still before she gathers up all those skill points*

If we're voting I'd love to see the counter...way better than my half-assed efforts to record my XP when I get one (by 'record' I mean scribble an unintelligible number down on whatever looks like paper and is kind of near me) and count the difference when i get the next one.

Its something in the 40K region these days.

Gush away Ranier...sleuth is totally gushworthy.

A great idea! Ben doesn't have to do anything more to keep Sleuth interesting, but this would sure be a convenience I'd like!

I'm new here, but I'm not new to the RPG world and the idea of gaining experience and levels, or in this case skill points. And I personally think it provides a more realistic experience when you don't know exactly when it is going to come. So if votes are being tallied, mine is against the list of what experience levels points are doled out at.
