How do you know if you have a private message?
I sent somebody one, but I have no idea how to check if they PMed me back!

Thanks!:)

You need to turn off your pop up blockers Midnight. If that doesn't help, you may need to check your firewall and make Sleuth a "safe" site.

When you do, you'll find that your PM's Pop Up, automatically when you refresh your screen. :D

One way to test is to send your self a PM. If you get it then you know they are working.

What happens if they PM you while you're not on?
I have no idea how to turn off pop-up blockers on my computer. I don't know how to check the firewall either.

Thanks!:)

I just PMed myself and it didn't work! I refreshed the screen, just in case, and nothing happened.
cfm, I sent you a private message because no one was answering a question on my thread and I thought you would know. Do you think you can just answer my questions here?

Thanks everybody!:)

If they PM you while u are gone, you will just get the PM when u log on next. :)

I have AOL, so it may be different for you, but along the bottom of my screen, there is a link i can click to turn pop up blocker on and off. Sometimes, you may find the pop up blocker option under Tools, along the top of your screen. When I had Earthlink ,the pop up blocker option was under Tools.

Good luck :)

Thanks. I figured out how to turn it off, but it still said I didn't have any PMs, even though I know I have at least 1. And I have no clue how to check my firewall.

Thanks anyway!:)

Assuming you have Internet Exploder like me, if not, this may be a bit different, but should be similar...
Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Sites>then type in the address of the site and click Allow. I have hypotheticalsoftware.com and hypoware.com in mine, and it works fine. Hope this helps!!

I don't normally save my PMs but I do have yours! So...

-So if you cannot get an alibi from someone because they're clammed up, it is the same as no alibi?

No. Only a fake or a "none of your business" response is a bad alibi. Clammed means you don't have the information and they could very well have a decent one, but have decided to be difficult! :)

-What does PE+WE DOES NOT= Guilty mean? I know PE is physical evidence and WE is witness evidence, but what about the DOES NOT part? I thought PE+WE=guilty.

No. It DOES NOT=Guilty. That's a good way to get a false accusation. You might luck out and find the right person because all guilty suspects will have PE and WE against them, but there are also innocent people that will have an eyewitness account and a PE against them as well.

-How do you know when you have a private message?

That's been covered above. ;)

-Why don't you get skill points for some cases that you solve?

As you gain experience, it takes more experience points in order to gain skill points. It takes about 50,000 exp right now for me to find one little skill point.

Glance through the boards, you'll find a lot more information.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through the Welcome Newbies thread first!! I may have saved your PM in order to fill in the gaps in the thread. I'm working on a more usable version with a friend. Cross your fingers it works out! :D
