WARNING GAME SPOILER!!

If you wish to enjoy the adventure of figuring out this game on your own, DO NOT read the rest of this post.

If you are too lazy to read through a page or two of threads to see if your question has already been asked a zillion times, then PLEASE read this first!

Welcome to Sleuth, and your new addiction.  There is no cure, so just accept it and enjoy it! Here are a few tips and hints that you should find helpful, and are among the FAQ of the newbie boards.

First, a great place to FIND ANSWERS and cool history threads about Sleuth is in the Moderator Picks Board. The Mods have picked out their favorite bits and made them easy to find. In addition to personal favorites, try looking over the Newbie FAQ. This can be found on the bottom of most pages as a tiny little grey link. Also the Help file at the upper right of most screens is packed with little useful tidbits.

HOW DO I SOLVE a case? First off…we recommend that you try the tutorial found on the front of the case page. It won’t count against your daily caseload, and it will give you an idea of how the game works. It’s not set up to walk you through the most efficient course through the game, but to show you how the game works, leaving you to find your own strategy. The following formulas will help you find your murderer.

PE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
WE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
2 WE = guilty

PE=Physical Evidence WE=Witness Evidence

Having a clammed suspect that will not give you an alibi is not the same as a fake/none alibi.

PE+WE DOES NOT = Guilty

Thank you, R Anstett, and Serena Siren for fielding that question.

Let me see if I have this right. After solving 3 cases in a row I can get a favor case from a townie. Now as an unsubscribed member, that means (assuming I never quit and am always right) I should only both asking for favors on my first case each day?

If you're not subscribed but solve all your cases every day from the day you start, then you should be able to get a favour every day after you're last case :)

But yes, alternatively you could wait till the next day and do the favour as you're first case of the day before starting your daily cases :)

Oops - "your" not "you're" - my mind was somewhere else :)

Hey, you guys know about the "clams" in the game right? For the hard and further levels, most of the suspects would only allow one Q. So, would you choose ask for alibi or people with motive?

If it's alibi, how do you get the suspects? If it's motive, how can you find the murderer?

If they're only answering 1 question it's going to get pretty tough getting through a case no matter what startegy you go for.

It sounds a bit like you're trying to do a higher case level than the skills you have can actually match, so it might be more worthwhile to go down a level or two until you've gotten a higher level of interview skills to help make the suspects more cooperative. Just find a level you're comfortable with and where you're sure to find the murderer most in most cases. Then when you've accumulated enough skill points to a higher level of Sweet Talking or Interrogation you'll be better equipped for the higher case levels :)

I am puzzled about this.

I completed this case, and this guy called Larry the Toe popped out of nowhere. He said he could sell me an info for 500. Curiosity killed 500 out of me and got a "Big Lucy's Cabaret in a cellar under a deli, on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street", which is the restaurant.

What should I do now?

There is a lot of info about Larry the Toe and Lucy's cabaret both in this thread and in several other threads.

One of the best is here:

Oh, I can ask for favors when I'm not in a case, nice. Time for my first favor!

Here's a question I think belongs here...WHAT THE []insert word of your choosing[] IS EXP FOR!?
