WARNING GAME SPOILER!!

If you wish to enjoy the adventure of figuring out this game on your own, DO NOT read the rest of this post.

If you are too lazy to read through a page or two of threads to see if your question has already been asked a zillion times, then PLEASE read this first!

Welcome to Sleuth, and your new addiction.  There is no cure, so just accept it and enjoy it! Here are a few tips and hints that you should find helpful, and are among the FAQ of the newbie boards.

First, a great place to FIND ANSWERS and cool history threads about Sleuth is in the Moderator Picks Board. The Mods have picked out their favorite bits and made them easy to find. In addition to personal favorites, try looking over the Newbie FAQ. This can be found on the bottom of most pages as a tiny little grey link. Also the Help file at the upper right of most screens is packed with little useful tidbits.

HOW DO I SOLVE a case? First off…we recommend that you try the tutorial found on the front of the case page. It won’t count against your daily caseload, and it will give you an idea of how the game works. It’s not set up to walk you through the most efficient course through the game, but to show you how the game works, leaving you to find your own strategy. The following formulas will help you find your murderer.

PE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
WE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
2 WE = guilty

PE=Physical Evidence WE=Witness Evidence

Having a clammed suspect that will not give you an alibi is not the same as a fake/none alibi.

PE+WE DOES NOT = Guilty

He's a legend of Sleuth and was a big part of the sleuth community. He was formerly in Fat Kitten, one of the oldest if not the oldest still active agencies in the game.

Some of his threads were some of the most informative when it came to tips on playing this game. It's a shame that some of threads he's posted to have been buried. He also wrote one of the New York Featured Mysteries. As for why cfm is collapsing, she's a WWJ fan girl. I mean to the point that I wouldn't be surprised if she had Wayne Williams Jr. Posters plastered all over her office and her desk covered with Wayne Williams Jr. swag.

Now to the part that the rookies will benefit from.

Q: All of my suspects did not have the footprint I found at the crime scene. Is that possible? I quit but, curiosity killed the cat.

A: The answer to this comes in two parts. If that was the only piece of evidence, you probably don't have all the skills yet to find some of the physical evidence at the scene or you could have failed the evidence search check. If this is the case then you'll want to invest in Basic Hair and Basic Thread right away so you can atleast find them. Also you can give yourself better chance at the evidence checks by equipping items that increase smart. It's not completely foolproof but it's better than nothing One thing to keep in mind is something mentioned earlier in this thread. "Just because you _find_ 0 or 1 doesn't mean that it wasn't there it just means you didn't find it."

There are more than one piece of PE in a given case. One will always match to the real murderer. The rest will match to someone with a vaild alibi. If your footprint did not match to someone then you did not have a full suspect list. If that is the case, make sure you check with the fortune teller to see if you got all of your suspects.

Let me see if I have this right. After solving 3 cases in a row I can get a favor case from a townie. Now as an unsubscribed member, that means (assuming I never quit and am always right) I should only both asking for favors on my first case each day?

If you're not subscribed but solve all your cases every day from the day you start, then you should be able to get a favour every day after you're last case :)

But yes, alternatively you could wait till the next day and do the favour as you're first case of the day before starting your daily cases :)
