WARNING GAME SPOILER!!

If you wish to enjoy the adventure of figuring out this game on your own, DO NOT read the rest of this post.

If you are too lazy to read through a page or two of threads to see if your question has already been asked a zillion times, then PLEASE read this first!

Welcome to Sleuth, and your new addiction.  There is no cure, so just accept it and enjoy it! Here are a few tips and hints that you should find helpful, and are among the FAQ of the newbie boards.

First, a great place to FIND ANSWERS and cool history threads about Sleuth is in the Moderator Picks Board. The Mods have picked out their favorite bits and made them easy to find. In addition to personal favorites, try looking over the Newbie FAQ. This can be found on the bottom of most pages as a tiny little grey link. Also the Help file at the upper right of most screens is packed with little useful tidbits.

HOW DO I SOLVE a case? First off…we recommend that you try the tutorial found on the front of the case page. It won’t count against your daily caseload, and it will give you an idea of how the game works. It’s not set up to walk you through the most efficient course through the game, but to show you how the game works, leaving you to find your own strategy. The following formulas will help you find your murderer.

PE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
WE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
2 WE = guilty

PE=Physical Evidence WE=Witness Evidence

Having a clammed suspect that will not give you an alibi is not the same as a fake/none alibi.

PE+WE DOES NOT = Guilty

Is there a certain number of suspects who have fake or no alibi that you have for a certain level?

Yes. But it is slightly random, for example lvl 1 may have x number of suspects and x with a fake alibi while Lvl 2 may have x or x+1 number of suspects and x with a fake alibi.

If you PM me (Lady Emerald Devon or Lady Ruby Caplan) with your email address, I have a more up to date Sleuth Helper that was made by an (ex?) player.

Is it possible to discover a piece of physical evidence at the scene that does not point to the killer? For example, I discover a thread from a right handed person -- could the killer be left handed, or must they be right handed?

Thanks,
Marsonis

Mars. It is possible to discover a piece of physical evidence at the scene that does not point to the killer?

Yes. There are always at least two pieces of evidence for any case (up to 4 as the cases get harder].

Each piece of evidence will belong to a different suspect - never the same - eg the thread might belong to Joe Bloggs, but the hair wont, it might belong to Delia Smith.

The main aim is to find a person without an alibi / fake one AND who one of the townies say yes this thread/hair etc does belong to Joe Bloggs

Or Find TWO suspects who will point their finger at Joe Bloggs and say yup I suspect him!

**See the formulas in this thread**

Why are advanced skills helpful? =Two pieces of evidence: one right hand, one male thread.

You know that all left handed, females aren't your suspect :)

Likewise if your piece of evidence is a left hand note and just a plain thread, at least you know not to waste your time asking the banker about right hand people and can focus on left handed people.

Questions are at a premium, and anything that narrows the range of suspects, and focuses your questioning is a good thing, eh?

I could extend this, other people surely will, but that's prob good enough to go on.

Thanks Squirrel, that answered all of my questions, even some that came up after I thought about my question some more.
