WARNING GAME SPOILER!!
If you wish to enjoy the adventure of figuring out this game on your own, DO NOT read the rest of this post.
If you are too lazy to read through a page or two of threads to see if your question has already been asked a zillion times, then PLEASE read this first!
Welcome to Sleuth, and your new addiction. There is no cure, so just accept it and enjoy it! Here are a few tips and hints that you should find helpful, and are among the FAQ of the newbie boards.
First, a great place to FIND ANSWERS and cool history threads about Sleuth is in the Moderator Picks Board. The Mods have picked out their favorite bits and made them easy to find. In addition to personal favorites, try looking over the Newbie FAQ. This can be found on the bottom of most pages as a tiny little grey link. Also the Help file at the upper right of most screens is packed with little useful tidbits.
HOW DO I SOLVE a case? First off…we recommend that you try the tutorial found on the front of the case page. It won’t count against your daily caseload, and it will give you an idea of how the game works. It’s not set up to walk you through the most efficient course through the game, but to show you how the game works, leaving you to find your own strategy. The following formulas will help you find your murderer.
PE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
WE+Fake/"none of your business" Alibi=guilty
2 WE = guilty
PE=Physical Evidence WE=Witness Evidence
Having a clammed suspect that will not give you an alibi is not the same as a fake/none alibi.
PE+WE DOES NOT = Guilty

I think a little clarification is needed there Shadow.
On question one: you can have up to 4 pieces of evidence, and yes all 4 can be the same (4 hairs in your example).
On question two: I do not think anyone knows what affects the random chance a suspect will be killed. Similar to the random chance if a suspect will clam or not, there is just a particular random chance that one suspect will die. The two are not related to each other.

a quick question: If I have a case and I know who the killer is, but I can't accuse him because he has no motive, how can I solve this case then?
Everybody clammed up... so can I wait till tomorrow and then ask the questions again? or will they still not answer?

After somebody clams up then you can't get them to talk again.

Basically true, Cinderella, esepcially for blackhider who is unsubbed.
However, don't forget that subscribers have a few options that MAY help them unclam those stubborn suspects.
There is the Circle of Light's special skill that is occasionally useful for just that purpose.
If you are in an agency, up to two suspects may unclam if a new detective picks up the case, but this only can happen the first time a case is opened by a new detective. Plus you have the help of your co-workers contacts for the townies.

Q: If you have only 2 suspects with no alibi, is it possible for one of them to get killed?
Actually the amount of suspects or whether or not they have an alibi has no bearing on whether they get killed or not. It's purely random. Another thing of note is that no suspect will die until you've visited them atleast once.

This post is filled with information for all levels. Easy just means fewer suspects, less evidence to check, and slightly more cooperative people to work with.
Read through the thread and take notes if you are needing help, especially the Formulas for Guilt.
