i just recently started playing a month ago and i LOVE it. however i have questions concerning my play format. if i stay in one level, say easy. does the gain skills gradually get less and less or should i take the jump to a next level. id hate to loose a character and have to start over. also if my character is good with a certain organization like the arcania group should i quit a case if it makes me fall from there grace. just any help will be a gratefully appriciated

First, with factions. Being unsubcribed and only getting 3 cases a day my opinion is to do every case that comes your way rather than quit anything because of faction scores.

Second, you have to move up in level as you earn skills so that you can continue to earn points. If you do not move up then you will not continue to earn Skill Points (or they will come very slowly) so my advice is to do the toughest cases that you feel comfortable trying. No shame in quitting a case if you get stuck, is much better than getting a false.
