When I logged back on this evening, I found that the avatars for the suspects in my case today have all changed. I distinctly remember that Suspect X had this avatar, but now X has this new one.

Also, I see detectives like bitter_suite24 and Curtis West have changed their avatars today. Could this be the reason for this sudden avatar change in my case?

Anyone know whta happened?

When avatars are uploaded they are spread throughout the system so it is possible that the detectives in your case recieved modified avatars.
I deduct that your theory is right on the mark.
