Ben, have you ever given any thought to having a real time chat for agencies ? If you dont understand what I mean, let me see if I can explain it. I play another game called Everquest. For those of you that aren't familiar with it, it is a real time MMORPG. In EQ, we have guilds that are much like the agencies here and when we are online in EQ we are tapped into something called "Guild Chat". It is a channel (for lack of a better word) where all of our guild mates can talk to each other at the same time. It's like being in a chat room on MSN IM or Hotmail IM, etc.

I dont know what kind of programming this game is made from, so, in turn, I dont know if what I am suggesting is even feasible here. But, I thought I would throw the suggestion out here and see what kind of response I get.

Yes, I think that is an excellent idea... at least have a chat for the agency members... At least have a small appelet for the agency members and not for the general population of the game. And also, someway to turn it off or on, so you only have to chat if you want to.

You know Ben. For four dollars a month, we here in Sleuth City are pretty demanding :)

Ben, I for one am glad that you DON'T have a chat system here. It's quite a distraction while trying to solve cases (especially favors) and people are constantly interrupting with mostly frivilous inanities (meaning B.S.). My vote is to keep what is already in place.

i'd have to agree with chronestrian, keeping what's in place seems like the best idea to me

i completely disagree. i believe it would be better and easier this way you don't have to wait a year and change pages twelve times to get an answer! besides what celeste was saying is you can TURN IT ON OR OFF! pay attention guys! if you don't want to be interrupted turn it off!

In my opinion, the im system is more distracting since you have to refresh the page to get the new message,,, and if you need to talk to more than one person at a time, that could be even more distracting. A simple chat appelet where one can turn off or on would be the best and simplest way to communicate.

Well I agree with Sweet, Celeste and Layne. It would be great! But I also agree with Dudgeon, we are demanding.
If you want to chat with your agency members, you could set it up using one of the existing IM services.
A game wide chatroom does seem to be missed by some. I don't know if I would make use of it though. I like the message boards.

It doesn't matter to me what Ben decides to do, however I do agree we are asking too much of him for the price we're paying. Even I have suggested things that's not needed. In our agency we chat on MSN together, while solving cases, which works fine. Only if it's cost worthy for Ben, then it would be great.
