Equipment Suggestion

I think it would be great if agencies can sell each other extra equipment (thanks Reda for giving me this suggestion). Maybe we could check a piece of equipment in the lockerroom and set a price. Then, another Director can see this is available and click on it to buy it. The money would go to the agency's safe and the new equipment would go into the equipment lockerroom of the agency who purchased it.

I think this would be a great addition, especially for younger agencies.

So...what do you think?

ooooh I like it!!! That would be a great way to get rid of multiple items and clear up space for new AND help agencies get the equipment they need. Great idea!!!

I think this is a very nice idea.

It goes along with the other idea I suggested about some agency threads being able to be seen by the public.

I do think it will help the community aspects if the agencies can be a bit more open (on their own terms) to the rest of the community.

I do have a small point on selling.

I think there might need to be a minimum price of around 80% or so. Otherwise a large agency could flood the market with cheap gear found in favors or by always having someone with a high enough faction standing to make a healthy profit even at selling with a 50% sales price.

But I like this better than the issues that come up from a Sleuth Auction house being set up for gear detecitves want to sell.

Ok, thought of a second alternative.

Maybe if we sell something to the Detective Store is can stay there in inventory for other detectives to buy? Not automatically dropped to the store if we decide to sell when found, but only if we make a trip to the store to sell something.

I think acquiring equipment is part of the challenge for new agencies, and being able to simply buy equipment you need won't be nearly as satisfying as earning it yourself. I remember how hard we at Mokita worked to get some of the smart gear. Some agencies help others with equipment too, which I think is awesome, and reflects the great community we've got. (I don't see how having an agency store would improve the community spirit.)
I can see ways that this could be abused or exploited, and I believe the economics are pretty carefully balanced in this game (Shady's prices, limits on track betting etc.) as it is. The fact that the richest player in the game apparently "only" has $3,600,000 seems to confirm this.

Ran's second idea sounds a lot better to me. Let sold equipment turn up in the detective store for people to buy. The seller get's the usual amount, and the buyer presumably has to pay a small premium, but the money goes to the game, not an agency or individual. (Although that still makes the game less challenging.)

(Just my opinion of course.)

I've had that EXACT same idea! I even started to make a post "For sale - 1 slightly used sari $5000 or best offer" LOL

There is actually a way to sell things to other agencies, it involves a little work but it can be done.

Post an "Equipment for sale" post, listing things your agency has for sale, asking that anyone interested message you. You work out a deal on price, then that person leaves their agency, joins yours as an agent, deposits the cash in your safe, equips the item and then resigns from your agency. Of course they would have to wait 48 hours to get back into their old agency, but if it's a piece of equipment that agency REALLY needs then it would be worth it.

I did something like that with another agent where I bought them a bloodhound (cheap with my faction standing) and I got harmony orbs and some cash. They thanked me for doing them a favor but honestly I got the best in that deal.

I like the idea, and have always wondered what I'd do with that rack of Coats of the Gentle Warrior cluttering up the hallway.

However... I might be wrong, I am stuffed up with a cold, but does this give an advantage to those people in agencies as opposed to those people who are 'lone wolves' and just 'play'? I mean don't get me wrong individual players [like me :D] soon realise that creating an agency even just to store your stuff is the only way to fly! But it does give 'new' people snapped up in agencies an advantage over thoe people who don't want to be an agency... this would be an advantage on things like the leader boards etc but still to some people that might actually count?

It's just a thought, since we've been striving for an even playing field recently ... :)

oops I came back to retract the above... If a mod. wants to delete it please feel free. Otherwise may it stand as a monument to my stupidity. *sneezes* (I think I'll just stick to trying to hatch my Rasputin's Egg from now on!)

I'd like the idea if there was equipment that was rare, or one of a kind. But since all there is to it to get equipment is doing the work, I don't think short cuts are a good idea. It's part of the fun in building an agency.

If we want team spirit, people should make friends in other agencies, and go pick it up there. I did it with a top hat once.

I think the equipment situation is just fine as it is. It takes a little more effort and creativity to get certain items, and figuring it all out is part of the fun of the game.

I like the idea of selling items but i think it should be an auction a bit like ebay... could be fun... (sorry to show how sad I am but i do have an excuse as I used to look after chilren) neopets have something like that and its a lot of fun.
