Can you Haiku?
Etymology: Japanese
: an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively

Maddie got a gun
"bang bang" shot him in the head
woke up, just a dream

Pentameter? You asked for it. Okay its not sleuthwise at all, but here is a poem I wrote a long while back. Its at my ezboard.

Here is a poem I wrote recently and posted it at poetry.com.

Pirate Love

The pirate swaggers through the busy streets,
a feather in his hat, brass-buckled boots;
displaying all his charms to those he meets:
dark hair, tan skin, and gleaming golden hoops.

He greets each lady like a royal queen
enchanting them with tales of daring deeds.
He coaxes love from every maid he's seen,
a sultry wicked grin is all he needs.

A wine-wet kiss bestowed with honeyed lips,
adorning necks with gifts of glist'ning jewels,
a gentle touch of hand on cheeks or hips,
with these he turns the virgins into fools.

Replete with love they sleep 'ere break of day,
but when they wake they find he's sailed away.

I like that, it's got a nice rhythm to it. I've always thought rhythm is more important to a poem than rhyme. But you seem to have rhymes covered as well. :)

I think this poem by John Cooper Clarke is great. You have to say it aloud to get the full effect. You get drawn to saying it in a certain rhythm.

I wanna be your vacuum cleaner
Breathing in your dust,
I wanna be your Ford Cortina
I will never rust,
If you like your coffee hot
Let me be your coffee pot,
You call the shots,
I wanna be yours.
I wanna be your raincoat
For those frequent rainy days,
I wanna be your dreamboat
When you want to sail away,
Let me be your teddy bear
Take me with you anywhere,
I don't care
I wanna be yours.
I wanna be your electric meter
I will not run out,
I wanna be the electric heater
You'll get cold without,
I wanna be your setting lotion
Hold your hair in deep devotion,
Deep as the deep Atlantic ocean
that's how deep is my devotion.

You never answered by question about there being rhythm to Haiku

No I don't think there is rhythm to Haiku. Its just 5 7 5 syllables.

I'm not sure if I'm drunk or if you are Miss Maddie but I'm seeing every thing in rhyme or is that rhythm or is that rhyme or is that...I give up.

Not sure if she's drunk
They call her Agatha Misty
But who's she really?

Not sure if she's drunk
She is known as Agatha
But who's she really?

There we go.

I think I'm going mad
Detectives shouldn't do haiku
They should solve crimes

But when we are bored
And there are no cases left
It's something to do

I used to do this at school! bit rusty though and I probably pronounce things differently syllable-wise!
