tell me what these are used for?

safe cracking allows you to finish a treasure hunt for an agency without the last key, pickpocketing allows you to collect your reward if your client is the murderer, and research provides a valid alibi for someone who gives a fake one, and i'm not so sure about hypnotism

Hi hypnotism helps you find more motives when you interrogate suspects but it doesn't work all the time and to increase your chances you need charming equipment.
