How do y'all feel about agencies recruiting detectives at your agency? Does it hurt y'all whne long term detectives leave? Maybe I'm cynical but I look at my fellow sleuths as family & it gets me down in the dumps when they resign, only to take up residence elsewhere.

I think that taking an agency seriously includes two things.

Being subscribed. Yes you have to subscribe to join, but you can let it lapse and still remain in the agency. Many agencies out there have Directors that are not subscribed. I personally would like to see a change that upon your subscription running out you are no longer part of an agency.

The second is the act of participating in the agency. This does not mean hunting, or doing a ton of cases, it means participating in the agency part of the game. Perhaps that is just roleplaying more, or becoming a mentor to younger detectives. Some of us like the challenge and competition of the score boards, not everyone should feel that is important to their enjoyment.

I would hope that the members of Mojo feel like they are assets *to* the agency (and not *of* the agency) and they feel good about belonging to our agency.

*raises hand* I have to respectfully disagree about when you're unsubbed your time runs out in an agency. I think it should be the Directors choice whether they keep unsubbed or not. Ya see, because...*clears throat*... I am one of them people that sometimes the subscription runs out and I cant always pay right on time each time *sigh* and I really love Mojo's and I would HATE to automatically be kicked out. *sigh* Ran , you are wonderful but I have to disagree with you, just this time :o) *runs quickly back to the depressing field office*

Mak, I agree with you. There are agencies that won't tolerate unsubbed players, but I think that it should be a choice that the agencies have. I've worked with a lot of detectives that, for whatever reason, will occasionally let their subs lapse. I've even been known to go a short time in the land of the banner ads. :)

Yes, and sometimes you don't realize you are unsubbed. Directors do so much to help the newer players, that they might not play all their cases.

Or, in my case. I am a poor college student. And if it comes between rent and one month without my subscription, I choose rent.

I think this should be each person's own choice.

I understand those points, and do not want to seem cruel. I wonder what the balance is between having an agency full of active but unsubscribed players.

Is it fair for an agency to have unsubscribed directors and a bunch of rookie detectives that are subscribed to do the running from city to city?

N, Ran, perhaps not. However, those agents don't have to be in that agency IF they think it's unfair.
There are plently of agencies and those rookies can leave.
The whole point is, that there IS a place for everyone in Sleuth.
To say, that people aren't allowed to stay in an agency if they are unsubbed is unfair. It's up to the people in an agency to decide that.

but Ran..*batting eyelashes*....if Rookies don't like that the Director(s) is unsubbed, they don't have to stay in the agency, they can go to an agency that has subbed Directors *smiles* You big meany!!! ;)

I can see that the tide is against me on this one.

I understand that people like Rach and others have to choose on entertainment like Sleuth and other things.

I think that it does say something that people feel they need to belongto an agency to feel a sense of community. Maybe that should go in the "why you should subscribe" thread.

I agree R. Anstett. Although I am normally subbed, such as now, there are times where I have to choose. I am just glad that I don't lose my agency status, I would miss them.
