Is there a way to drop an undesired contact or to impede a townie from becoming one ? Definitely the guys who can analyze stuff are better to get as contacts than the others.

It is not quite so easy to just PICK a contact. It will take quite a while to earn the favors, then drop the favor for the people you do not want, then hope that when you do end up doing the favor for the proper person that they end up being your contact.

It takes a lot of extra work and many dropped cases to pull that off.

It might just be simpler to recruit someone for your agency with the contact you want.

Heh, or you get distracted and forget to quit the damn Calligraphist Favour and end up as Agent Number 4 with that contact :D

But if there's turnover in the agency - this can correct itself over time.

Well, I've noticed that people who don't have many smart skills (like I only have footprint analysis because I believe having too many smart skills limits my being able to question the townspeople) are limited to those contacts that help their particular skill. Like I have the shoemaker in NY, but I have the calligraphist and librarian in other cities, which I prefer because I don't have handwriting analysis. So I don't know if you'll get a contact you won't need according to the evidence you pick up at a crime scene. So maybe if someone doesn't have any smart skills for evidence they'll just get the Banker. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Dont think there is any connection between your skills and the contact you get.
