ok, now i'm totlly wondering if anybody in here is a total slacker, or are you just brialliant and lazy? Or a jock or like a really bright top of your class kind of person. because i feel like i'm the only slacker online, and like i've been here for 200 some days but with very little experience, i slack a lot apparently.

Some of us are slackers, others use this place to unwind.

Me personally, though brilliant (and modest), I am also mentally insane.....and I got to run now before the masked men in white coats take my internet access away.

I think the key Johnboy is that there are three loose groups of people here.

One is here for the community aspect of the game. They enjoy the banter back and forth, roleplay, and in general the good people that typically are found around here. These people if subscribers typically join agencies for the interactions with other players it provides.

The second group is the largest. These are the people who are here to play Sleuth. They do some cases at thier own pace, join agencies for the added game aspects in helping with cases and overall are here for the mental stimulation of the logic puzzles that are the heart of Sleuth.

The third group takes this solving of cases as a competition and works hard at solving cases not only for the satisfaction of the individual case but for the body of work it adds to. These tend to be the people you see on the high score lists.

I think that most people who stay in Sleuth for a while migrate between these groups. For a while they might be competitive and worry more about points & hunts. Then at other times they may be relaxed and more driven by community.

I personally like to think I have friends in all three groups. I think that the most valued members of the Sleuth community have a bit of all three in them. That is what makes this such a fun place to stick around. You can take that break, relax, slow down and watch that other agency work away. It is a long term community building here.

hmmmmm. why does this remind me of the old saying

People can be divided into two groups. Those that divide everything into two groups, and those that don't. (I'm actually in the former) ;)

Or those that divide everyone into three groups - those that can count and those that can't

well, I thought about this, and I guess I am a slacker. or maybe just an actual worker.
This weekend I hit 1500 cases solved, 300 days playing, and 1 million exp. I play basically everyday, with some down time but not much, as those who know me can testify to. But I can say Morley has, with a few special exceptions, done all his experience on his own.

Most dedicated subs have a whole lot more experince points by the age of 300. but how many out there can say they really earned them? I know I can. That means more to me than a picture of a bong as a treasure in the trophy room. So that might make me a slacker, but I don't think so.

How do people get XP if they do not earn them Morley?

Or are you talking about other people logging onto your detective and doing your cases for you?

Unlike video games with cheat codes there is no way to build up your Experience points in Sleuth with out doing the work. (at least I do not think there are cheat codes, and if there were I would most likly leave tomorrow as that is a pitiful thing in my opinion)

Your XP total does not make you a slacker or not, it is a choice in how you enjoy the game. No one should feel pressured to earn more XP to be considered part of the overall community. By the same token those that do not want to earn XP should not put down those that use it as a measuring stick. There is a high score listing for a reason.
