It's a little late for the holidays, but I want to point out that we finally have added gift subscriptions that you can purchase for one of your friends.

This is something I get asked about every now and then, and I'm excited that people in Sleuth have made good enough friends here that it is even an issue.

I can see potential abuse of this if people start begging to have people buy them subscriptions.

As a community, we can kindly but firmly make it clear that we think this is uncool.

Which is basically what it is. I don't think it's actually wrong, just annoying as all get out.

People asked for others to subscribe them before, but I think you're right that this will make it happen more often.

And who's to say that some agencies may not use this as a recruiting tool? "We'll pay; you play!" I can see the billboards now...

Good point. It is definitely not appropriate to use the public message boards to solicit gift subscriptions.
