What should I do if a suspect goes into hiding? Is there any way to get him/her to come back? Or do I have to quit? This is the second time this has happened, and I really don't want to quit this case. :(

You do not have to quit the case.

First you just go back to the townies and ask them if they know where that person is hiding. Each of the non-PE people will now have the option to ask them if they know where "X" is hiding. If they do then the person will come back to your list of suspects (the name never leaves, but you will be able to talk to them again).

Just because they run away does not mean that they are guilty. The normal rules of solving still apply.

When you are subscribed you can visit other cities. There is a faction skill you can learn "underworld connections" that will automatically bring back the suspect for you. It is taught by the Eastern Triads.
