First, I know that this skill is used by subscribed members of an agency in treasure hunts. The search feature is very good, indeed!
So my question: Is it ever used in hunting villians or the other mysteries?
Just wondering.

Nope, the safe cracking skill is only used in treasure hunts that have keys involved. Instead of getting that last key, the person with the safe cracking skill can go to the bank and retrieve the treasure. Other than that specific use, the safe cracking skill, and the bank safe is not used.
