Joining a Furore

Where do I find tickets?
Regular tickets to the Carousel Furore are found by playing Really Really Hard and above cases. It's easier to get a ticket that allows for a choice of games from playing harder difficulty cases.

The best chance to get a ticket however is playing cases at Really Really Hard and above an hour before a Furore is due to start.

Up to eight players can join a Furore, so if eight tickets have already been taken you will not be offered one for that game no matter how many cases you do.

What are back-up tickets?
Back-up tickets can be picked up for a price from factions. They allow you to enter any Furore so long as it's not full when the Furore launches.

Can I play Furores if I'm not in New York?
Yes. You can get a Furore ticket anywhere except the Sleuthetania and Shangri-La. There's special transport at the docks/train station to take you to the Boardwalk for the Furore.

Where do I go to start a Furore?
You need to present your ticket at the Carousel in the Boardwalk. You'll then find yourself in a chat lobby where you can talk to other players before the Furore is due to start.

How many Furores can I play a day?
There's a limit of 2 Furores a day per player, unless a back-up ticket is used.

Can I turn off offers of Furore tickets?
Yes. There's an options link accessable from the Detective page.

Playing a Furore

Where can I find clues?
Clues can be found in the cinema, through the telescope, in the pinball machine, on the big wheel, down the helter skelter, on the roller coaster, and last but not least, in the hall of mirrors.

If I pick up a clue can other players find it?
If you pick up a clue canister then others will not able to find it until it drops again later in the Furore. If however you see a clue somewhere, through a telescope for example, anyone else who sees it will get that clue.

Do clues drop again after being picked up?
Yes. Clues will be shuffled between locations and dropped again through out the game. The earlier stages have very infrequent drops, making trading very important for faster finishes, but as the Furore continues the clues will drop more frequently.

Can I always finish a Furore?
Yes. The opportunity is always there for everyone to finish a Furore, and everyone who finishes will receive at least one brass ring. In addition to faster clue drops as the game reaches its later stages, and a clue drop after every player finishes, if you're the last player standing the queues will disappear.

Can I store any items here?
Jonny Leigh, the cotton candy seller, can hold an accessory for you. Though you will need to pick that accessory back up again before leaving the Boardwalk.

What's all this about theft?
Theft or espionage is possible in the Furore, though this guide couldn't possibly help you engage in devious behaviours.

I've got all the clues, what do I do now?
The passwords need to be given to the townies in the order of the positional clues. So whichever townie has the "First" position should be given their password, then whichever townie has the "second" position, and so on.

Hall of Mirrors

Is there any logic behind this?
Yes. It's just like a standard maze (so same start and end points) with two exceptions:

1) All eight directional arrows will appear in every section, but only some of the arrows will actually take you to the next section. As walls are bumped into to establish they're not a path those 'false' arrows will disappear.

2) You do not enter sections in the manner you might expect. For example if you leave a section following the East path that does not mean you'll arrive on the West path in the new section. Keep an eye on the compass to see where you've arrived from.

I can't find any clues. What do I do?
If you're struggling to get your head around the Hall of Mirrors there's more than one way to pick those clues up. One of the best ways is by trading. Mirror clues are valuable, but most people who hold them will be willing to trade.. or stolen from.

If worst comes to worst and 40 minutes go by without your finding the two Hall of Mirror clues, then the Hall of Mirrors will become substantially easier to solve.

Trading

How do I trade?
You can either click the button on the map page or select the floating canisters option directly from the Fountain. Once there you can see any trades already on offer. There is a guide linked to there with more detail on the mechanics of trading itself.
