Scripted Mysteries are fully scripted cases that you can take on with your detective. They are similar to the standard, random Sleuth mysteries, but require a lot more reading and are more free form in nature.
1) Who can play Scripted Mysteries?
Only current subscribers have access to most scripted mysteries.
2) How do Scripted Mysteries differ from random mysteries?
Scripted Mysteries are fully scripted, meaning they are exactly the same, every time you play them.
There is a lot more to read, than in one of the random mysteries, and we try to maintain a higher
standard of writing quality. It is very important to pay close attention to everything written in
a Scripted Mystery, because a lot of the clues are hidden in the text. Scripted Mysteries also
deviate from the standard Sleuth rules, so that applying your common sense becomes more important
than just understanding the structure of the game.
3) Do Scripted Mysteries count against my daily play limit?
Yes.
4) What happens if I get a false accusation while playing a scripted mystery?
Scripted Mysteries are intended more for your enjoyment than for competition. Making an
incorrect accusation will not go on your detective's permanent record.
5) Are Scripted Mysteries replayable?
Yes, you are welcome to replay them as often as you like. However, you will only gain experience
and collect your reward the first time you solve a scripted mystery. Subsequent plays are just for
fun.
6) How often are you going to add new Scripted Mysteries?
We have no firm release schedule, but we will shoot for a pace of about one new mystery a month.
Writer's block permitting.
7) Does the Researching and the Hall of Records work any differently in Scripted Mysteries?
Yes. There are certain scripted mysteries where players are allowed to do research in the Hall of Records without the research skill,
while in others, the skill is required. If some piece of research evidence is absolutely necessary to complete a
scripted mystery, then the skill requirement is waived for that mystery. If it is possible to solve a scripted mystery without researching,
then the skill is required to find what research clues exist.
