Detective Biography
Matthew Porseit, age 33. Single. Born in Adelaide, Australia, the 15th of July. Orphan.
This is what my ID card says. It doesn't say that I was a Medic, a Legal Medic, and I worked at the morgue in Sidney. I had a girl, too. And a lot of friends. A normal life, with a lot of corpses around me.
Everything was good, I loved my life, I loved my work, I loved Australia, and I loved Jenny. Everything was good, but everything's got to change. And It did. Oh yes, It did.
It was a day like the others in January. I got to work and kissed Jenny, whe were planning to buy an apartment together, and we had an appointment with an Old Lady that wanted to sell an interesting place. At six o' clock I came to Jenny's house. There was a big mess, everything was almost destroyed. There was some blood on the walls, and little stains on the pavement. The stains leaded outside from the backdoor, and in that moment I hoped that Jenny was still alive. No. I Believed that she was still alive. I wanted to believe. I didn't call the police. I started searching nervously some traces, everything that could be useful to find those bastards that took Jenny away. I found some footprints and fingerprints, and a big piece of thread, cashemire I thought. And Jenny wasn't wealthy, she could not afford cashemire. The I called the police, but I said nothing about the evidences I got. I had to find them on my own. And I did it. But now, I understand that maybe it was better for everyone that the mistery stayed unresolved.
First I found her body, buried near a small house in the grain fields. She was already dead when she got away from the house. I believed that something obviously false was true. And now I won't commit that error again. I resigned my work, I got to New York. Now I am a private eye, and in the eyes of every young victim I'll see, I'll see Jenny's eyes... Bright, clear, beautiful eyes. Jenny... My dear.
