I was not a typical upper class girl. I loved playing in the mud, getting dirty, and discovering clues to anything. I didn't mind school. It gave me plenty of time to daydream. My studies reflected that. I had a good childhood. My parents doted on me and made sure I had everything I wanted or needed. And much I didn't want or need. But they didn't use things to replace their love. I got that too. Their love, affection, approval, and time.


But even with all their love and affection, never had I had such a connection with anyone before I met her. Total understanding and reassurance. She was my best friend. We were meant to chase men together, get married and be in each other's weddings. Help with each other's children. Grow old together. That never happened.

We met because of a man. Isn't it always a man? He was a wonderful man, but we were not meant to be with him. Or maybe he was not meant to be with us. We had an instant connection. We decided we would follow him and make him realize how much he was losing. That never happened either.

He was in the Army. On his way to meet his unit in India, he disappeared. He never reported for duty. He was never found.

Iris and I vowed we would find out what happened to him. Even if we didn't love him, we still cared for him. And of course we found the mystery exciting. But then Iris was killed.

Her twin, Autumn, was nothing like Iris and I hated her from the very beginning. But as we grieved together, I began to see her in a different light. She loved Iris even more than I did. I didn't even think that was possible. So now we track down leads to discover who killed Iris. And why. Those leads have led us here.

We began going to Rick's regularly and eventually discovered we had much in common with some regulars, Sultry de Mon and Sal Iva. We are all working together for a common purpose. We will succeed. We must.
