Detective Biography

It wasn’t interesting. The academic life was becoming too narrow, too one-dimensional. Lecturing a hall full of students, only rarely a glimmer or spark to encourage further kindling – it wasn’t stimulating enough. Fellow professors were even less than interesting, dustier and drier than a mouthful of sand in the Sahara. And there was no way that the darker skills, learned in a deep past that no-one at the university knew, could be useful here.

What to do? The Professor had always been drawn to the city and its life; the smoky underbelly of the city, where ordinary people lived, loved, and fought for their corner of existence. They died there too, in interesting ways – and the criminals were plainly getting away with it far too often.

It was obvious then, that the Professor should set up as a private detective. What better way to use his smarts and those secret skills to earn a living, make a name for himself and bring the guilty to justice?
