Detective Biography

Dessel Hawk Cooper. A name that would make most people feel pity. Some few people would think of a long forgotten ancestry. And only one would think of pride when hearing that name.
Dessel started his life in the coal mines of Wales. Born in to the life of a mineworker because of his father’s enormous dept to the company running the mines. His father would have had a dept no matter what job he'd had at that time. But the tyranny of WCC wasn't making the dept smaller. WCC, the Walsh Coalmining Corporation, tried to bind all of their employees with glorious contracts which showed out to be nothing but slavery. His father was an easy target.
But it wasn't always like that. His Father, Vincent Cooper had been a successful thief. He could steal anything worth stealing. His skills developed out from two things: experience and a book. The Cooper family had been a notorious thief clan for centuries. All his ancestors working the criminal lane had, had a specialty. All this knowledge had not been forgotten. They kept their secrets in a book. A book called "Furtum Omino Nulla".
Vincent really did not know what had happened that day. But soon he was working for this lady Hawk. It wasn't like him. Never in his life had he taken orders from anyone. The job was to steal back a heirloom from a Sir Raleigh. It was easy. But prior to the theft he had spend a lot of time with Lady Hawk. To get in to mind of this "Raleigh"... at least that was what he told himself. But off course it happened. He couldn't resist Bethany as he came to call her and she couldn't resist him. The class difference was to excotic.
It was soon after the weeding that Dessel came into the picture. But it wasn’t all joy and happiness. Bethany died giving birth. Vincent was overwhelmed by sorrow. He lost his job. The family wouldn’t have anything to do with him. He began drinking. He had promised Bethany to give up crime, so that was no solution. Sir Raleigh had some powerful friends. Somehow he had tracked the theft back to Vincent. Now Raleigh was blackmailing Vincent to let him and the baby remain in one piece. After 5 years they were completely dried.
The next thing Dessel remembered was working in the coalmine, fulltime. He remembered his father blaming him for everything: The death of his mother, their enormous debt, the loss of "Furtum Omino Nulla". Yes, Raleigh wanted Vincent to suffer and so he did.
Dessel had only one option left. He broke his chains. It all started with the murder of his father. It wasn’t unusual that people disappeared in the mines. Dessel saw a pattern which he investigated. He found evidence. The newspapers willingly published his articles. WCC wanted to cancel the dept just to get rid of him, but Dessel wouldn’t let them do it. He wanted everyone to see the truth. And people did.
But he couldn’t stay in Cardiff. Raleigh was still in charge. So before long Dessel was on his way to New York. His mother would have been proud.
