Detective Biography

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, I very properly attended Miss Porter's School, and later Vassar. At both, I passionately immersed myself in art, studying the Modern School in particular. My wild enthusiasm, sadly, was not matched by talent. So my proposed career as an artist was generally considered to be quite hopeless.

Not being pretty, I was not courted by the young men in our social circle, so marriage did not seem to be in my immediate future after graduation. I defied convention and established a modest household for myself in Greenwich Village. If I cannot be an artist, I can at least surround myself with them! And there are very exciting things going on here, not least of which is Mrs. Whitney's new museum. My father was quite scandalized that I refused to join the household of his elder sister on the Upper East Side, and accordingly afforded me the meagerest of allowances as punishment.

After my involvement in a particularly dramatic and tragic episode involving- well, I'd better not say who- I found that I have an interest and talent for solving mysterious problems for people. It is sometimes quite dangerous work, but I feel that I am doing some good and it brings in some much-needed pin money.
