Detective Biography

J. Wolfe -- those who know him at the local bars call him "wolfie" -- but his real name has been disclosed to few others. Johnathan. Johnathan Wolfe. A simple name for a complicated man.

Wolfe was the son of a police officer of New York's finest; and he was pressured to follow in his father's footsteps ever since he could sit upright. Two years was all Detective Wolfe managed before he left the force, apparently over a dispute with the homicide captain. He was good at the job: with enough brains for forensics and the toughness for the streets, but people were another thing. He just didn't get along with them. Not those irrational, violent creatures who murdered and killed for no apparent reason and still had time to buy newspaper on the way back to their apartment.

But he needed the money. Bills didn't pay themselves, and good whiskey that didn't taste like watered down vinegar was expensive. He needed a job.

New York taxicab driver -- been there, done that. Quit in two weeks. People talked too much, wanted too much, gave too little.

So he became a private detective. Office at the cheapest district in the city, take the stairs up to your right. Dead people don't talk. Clients had money. Cases were sometimes, rarely, but sometimes, interesting.

He decided he was going to stay here a while after all.
