Detective Biography
She looked down at the business card in her hand. It bore a single name and a single street.
“Ivy” in strong sensible letters emblazoned across the front.
“Vine Street” in a finer, filigreed print below.
And a decorative frame of ivy vines, interwoven with a magnifying glass in the corner… a universally recognized symbol for services she now needed.
The law said her father… a respected member of the community… had committed suicide. But she wanted a second opinion… and a third and a fourth, if that’s what it took to clear her father’s good name.
She looked up from the card and gazed down the quiet street of shops she’d finally located just on the outskirts of downtown. Vine Street… WHERE on Vine Street? The card held no number. She launched a brisk walk down the well-kept sidewalk and closely inspected the quaint shops as she passed by.
Then she came to one with no marquee. The storefront was simply coated in a soft blanket of ivy vines. This had to be the place.
She reached for the handle of the door until a small sign in the window caught her eye…
