Detective Biography

A nightclub, New York, 1932.

The doors open. In walks an attractive pale-skinned brunette, mid- to late twenties. The most noticeable thing about her are the large blue eyes.
She seems somehow inaccessible; elegant, distant and a bit cold. But then she puts on a warm smile that has persuaded many people to do as she wishes.
The rumours on the street don't help much. She's new in town, just showed up one day, with an insatiable appetite for mystery and enough curiosity to kill ten cats. She speaks a peculiar accent-free English; the type you can only achieve learning it off books. She seems educated and has been known to have conversations about art, literature, politics and philosophy in English, German, French and Hungarian.
She's generally considered to be somewhere from continental Europe; more details are not known.

Who am I?
You can call me Talia. That's the name I bear now.
Talia Rune, because my original surname shall remain hidden.
Where do I come from?
*distant smile*
That's not important. The country I'm from doesn't exist anymore.
I was raised as a 19th century style lady, destined a life in such society. *slightly sarcastic* Sounds amazing doesn't it?
And then, everything changed. The family lost its status and its home and had to move. My father never fully recovered from the loss of honour and fatherland, my mother was heartbroken from the loss of the lifestyle and society. *sarcastic smile*
Neither of them survived for long. The children spread around the world, I haven't seen a single one of them for a decade, I've travelled around picking up jobs, just enough to get by.
You call it The Great War, mourn the fallen soldiers, glorify the war heroes and celebrate its ending.
But you have no idea.

She turns to you and looks you in the eyes.
For a moment you can see the hardness that lives in those blue eyes, the eyes of a person that is intent on surviving.
The moment passes quickly and she smiles, the blue eyes looking intelligent, warm and innocent.
She turns around and walks away.
