Detective Biography

So, you've tried lookin' for me, eh? Let's say I inherited a certain sneakiness from my father. He's currently hiding somewhere, stealing from somebody. I'll tell you what I'm comfortable with you knowing, and you can find out with enough bribes in the right cities.

Anyway, my dad charmed my mom. They got married. He got exposed as a crook and bailed. I was not even old enough to remember him. Mom bailed to New York that way I'd get away from the rumors of him. The only reason she took me with her is because she didn't want to be seen as "that crazy loon who left her kid". She could have done it too, if she didn't have an insane attraction to material wealth and drugs. It certainly wasn't to me.

She didn't like me much either. I was a constant reminder of the jerk my pa was. That and the fact that she never had enough money. To make even more money after her secretarial job, which was good for the times, she sold herself. She wound up in the gutter. The cops never caught the guy, despite the fact he signed his name to the note.

It was my father, ticked that she didn't keep herself for only him. My ma wasn't exactly secretive, because she was too good at what she did. She owned the high roller district, which drew my pa's attention. I'll bet my ma's dominance is a bit exaggerated, but that's what you get when forming stories from news and rumours.

I got shuttled from orphanage to orphange until I completed my state mandated secondary education in New York City. In my 'hood, you had to pick up a little bit of intimidation and interrogation techniques to live. Most of the time, I kept to my books though.

The only gift I ever got out of compassion was a pair of glasses from the local optometrist who took pity on a poor orphan. I kept those for my studies, and investigations. In fact, I still keep them to remind me that occasionally people can be compassionate.

I did research and identifications for people who paid enough money. Soon enough, that became a stable gig. I saved money from that to start my own PI business. My first case was figuring out who tried to kill the only person who showed me compassion. I caught the guy, and the rest is history.
