Detective Biography

Dusky Lou was discovered a Jane Doe on the doorstep of a N'Orleans house of ill repute. Jane Doe not being a fitting name, nor a brothel a suitable home, she was removed to the home of Mr and Mrs Rickett in Chicago, and christened with the name Anna May Rickett.

The following years gave her much adventure, whether it were defending her position as queen of the playground by rubbing the nose of opponents into the sand, or busting the bustling drug ring of the upperclassmen at her downtown high school. Unfortunately, the latter would endanger her life.

After spending her fifteenth year in reclusion, hearing her name whispered in dark corridors, and death threats being a dime a dozen, she relocated once more to New York, leaving the Ricketts behind and adopting the name of Dusky Lou - no surname.

There, she would take the job of a newspaper delivery girl, living on bruised apples and half eaten crusts of bread disposed of by the businessmen to whom she sold her papers. It was not until seven months of this dazzling lifestyle had past that her eye fell upon the front page of the June 26th newspaper.

Everybody knew the Harding case - Emmalina Harding had been found shoved head first into a cement mixer, and rumour had it, it was no accident. Chuck Mitt had been the prize witness, a construction worker who claimed he had seen a man who was not on the crew that worked where the body was found. Chuck Mitt had just been found dead.

Dusky Lou was not one to think kindly of the police - it had been their loud investigation that had endangered her life al those years ago, and now, here, again, they had failed to suitably protect a witness. It was time to take action.

Rummaging through the classifieds, she found a small advertisement for the Odyssey Agency, under the names of Jack Hartman and Serena Siren ... you never know, there might just be a place for her.
