Detective Biography

INFLUENCE:

Influence, little did I know just how important and life changing it would be in my life. I grew up in a small town near Sleuthville in a seemingly normal family. I can remember so vividly dad, mom and myself sitting around the old time radio listening to the murder mysteries that we looked forward to each evening. Typical, is the only word to best describe my life. My mom was just an ordinary housewife and my father owned a used car lot. He was always up early and on his way to work, then usually home at night, unless out of town buying cars at a car auction. It wasn't until I was in my teens that my life was turned upside down. I will never forget it as long as I live, it is still so fresh in my mind, just as if it had happened yesterday. It was a normal day as any other, mom was washing clothes and dad was watching television. Then two men came to our front door and asked to see my dad. They had a warrant for his arrest. I remember that my dad didn't say anything , he just went with them. That was the end of my normal life.

Several months later we found out, (as hard as it was to comprehend), that my father was accused of being a hit man for La Costra Nostra, a local mob. Talk about being overwhelmed, we all were. Mom was totally devastated as well as I. My world had come crashing down upon me. In the trial it came to light that dad had been involved in the mob for several years. On one of our visits to see him he told us that at first he just collected money from business's that the mob so called protected. It wasn't until they had someone that they needed to eliminate, then they asked him to do the dirty deed, and he did. After that he continued to move up and became one of their most trusted hit men. Many of the times that he was supposed to be out buying cars, he was actually tracking someone down to kill. I still can't believe it's true. Not my dad; however, like I said in the beginning, this has had a tremendous influence in my life. While dad went on to be convicted and given life in prison, it has given me the burning desire to work in law enforcement.

Shortly after his conviction I joined the local police department and rose quickly thru the ranks from patrolman to detective. After spending twenty plus years in the department, I decided to retire and go into private practice. This is when I became involved with Sleuth. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't work in and be around law enforcement. Sleuth has given me the opportunity to do what I feel has been my life's work. Even though my dad was on the other side of the law, I dedicated my life many years ago to protect and serve and I really believe that in some way I am trying to make up for my dad's mistakes. Yes, I was influenced through all of this year's ago, but thankfully it was in the right direction.
