Claudia Simon is, ironically, more known for her past burgler-assasination career than her new private-eye one. Classy, charming, and more than a bit ruthless, Claudia retired from her past life after her twin sister, a Miss Mattie Simon, was killed by an all-too-familiar tommy gun. It appeared that night in New York that Claudia's sharp tongue and quick wit were not enough to save Mattie from first degree murder.

Floyd escaped, but not without first promising that one day it would be her in the target of his gun. And next time, he wouldn't make a mistake.

...But Claudia made a promise of her own. And although she's not always true to her word when it comes to 'business', this one in particular is raw with honesty, for Claudia will not rest until she has avenged her twin's death.

By taking cases the coppers abandon, Claudia sifts her way through the Underworld, all the while searching for Floyd. Of course she still has allies with some 'untasteful' subjects, but what does she care? It's not like she's a 'good guy' now...
