He was a mysterious man. His face was rough looking, like it had been carved out of rock. With a mug like that, he could scare witnesses into telling him the truth. Yet, he didn't need to intimidate his witnesses. He'd give them plenty of rope and then scrutinize until the victim hung themselves. A hair here, a misspoken word, a hesitated action, anything could give your guilt away to him. His accusations sometimes seemed preposterous, but after explaining his evidence, no one had any doubts he was right. I miss working with him, but I'm sure he'll do fine sleuthing without me.
