Charm/Toughness and Clamming

If a suspect/witness clams, and you have both Sweet Talking/Rule Bending and Interrogation/Intimidation, can you use a Tough skill if a Charm doesn't work, and vice versa? I don't have a Tough skill right now, but I was wondering if a suspect clams if you are SOL or if another approach can get the person talking again. For example, a Sweet Talk fails and the suspect clams. Could I then try Interrogation, or is it too late?

No! If you tryed a skill and it failed your suspect will clam. You wont get the option to try any other skill.
But if you have both charm and tough skills and the judge of chracter skill you can use it to see which way your suspect "prefers". Then you can choose BEFORE using the skill, if you should go tough or charm.

NOTE: this is deffinatly not recomended for new players. Strat by focusing on either charm OR tough. Only later in the game when you got all skills you can try use both.

Thanks so much, reda! That's what I had believed so I'm glad I focused on Charm skills early with this detective! I'm now focusing on Smart skills. My next one I will probably get a little more daring and go the Charming and Tough route. I still gotta take Research early on, though... that is an invaluable skill.
