Making it clear that subscribing comes before joining an agency

I have a new suggestion for how to make it clear to people that they have to subscribe before they respond to people's help wanted ads on the Detective Agency Recruiting Board. I know there have been other suggestions in the past, and I would love to hear if someone has a better idea than I do...but here goes:

What if there were two sections to the Detective Agency Recruiting Board, a "Help Wanted" and a "Positions Sought?"

Then the help-wanted section could keep functioning basically as it already does, but the "Positions Sought" section could require people to be subscribed before they posted, or something along those lines.

Thoughts on this?

Good idea, Moonshh. Another way to fix it, other then a pink sign. Is having a grey bar sticky post on top of the recruitment board that says you need to be subbed. Now it is sort of a single normal sized font line that you can easily miss.

Or how about if u are unsubbed, you can't access the Detective Recruiting message board? That would probably be too difficult. I like both ideas above :)

I think separating it out and preventing non-subbed people from viewing that forum would decrease their likelihood of subscribing. Sure it may be annoying for someone to ask to be in an Agency and then later learn that they aren't subbed, but then one of the first things you end up doing (for the millionth time, of course) is let them know that they have to sub first. It is that one little interaction that might cause that person to sub. So a little pain for the greater gain ;-)

I was about to say exactly what Sherlock's just said: "It is that one little interaction that might cause that person to sub." I think there's a big difference between seeing links and messages saying "you need to subscribe to access .... feature", and wanting to join an agency and being told you'll have to subscribe first. The former is just information about the game; the second is an incentive to subscribe for yourself.

I know it must be a real pain for people on the recruitment board to have to keep posting the same "you need to sub. first" messages, but I think it probably does mean that the games gets more subscribers in the end.

Not allowing non-subs access to the recruiting board has been suggested before, however there are directors out there, some of very old and respected agencies that are not subbed.

Right, because you don't have to be subbed to be _in_ an agency, just to _join_...

*is subbed, though*

If I make a flashing neon pink sign...

Ahh... forget it. They won't even get the idea if I DO make one.

*Thinks jojo227 should post the Sleuth Interview before making flashing neon pink signs or even better use the sign for his interview post :)*
