what are the things that the three joints teach you when your standings go up. i know la cosa is safe cracking, what are the others. are the worth having if you aren't a subscriber?

Lots of info on the factions there.

Safe cracking is only useful if yo are in an agency. To be in an agency, you need to be subscribed.

As a young detective, there are other skills that will help you more than any of the factions skills. A good set of charm OR tough skills and smart skills will serve you better than faction skills.

Dies Arcanum teach pick pocketing, which allows you to get your fee when your client turns out to be the guilty party. They are at the church in New York. The Order of Socrates are at City Hall - they teach hypnotism.

Lockpicking is one of the skills you can get in the normal way by earning skill points.

DJ, Sir Arthur was stating that Lockpicking is not a faction skill and is picked up as a regular skill....you still need skill points for the factions skills, but you can only get them by being friendly with the factions....
